PUBLICANS Mike and Megan Shaw have raised hundreds of pounds for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance with the help of their generous punters.

They have held events from quizzes to bingo nights and fancy dress evenings at the popular The Inn with the Well pub in the village of Ogbourne St George near Marlborough.

They handed over a cheque for £755 to a Wiltshire Air Ambulance representative on Monday evening and were joined by some of their loyal customers.

They chose to support the Wiltshire Air Ambulance after the charity proved a popular choice after a pub vote.

Mrs Shaw, who has been running the The Inn with the Well with her husband for 25 years this July, also said the charity was one that is a vital part of the Wiltshire community.

She said: “We have had four or five music quizzes and a couple of bingo nights that raised the majority of the money.

“We also did a Medieval night and a 'talk like a pirate' evening, as well as lots of culinary challenges that have all contributed to the funds.

“This year we will have a vote again for which charity we will be supporting and have a long list of activities planned, including quizzes, Eurovision night, 20's Titanic event and various other things.

“We try to pick charities that are close to the heart of the people who support the pub and are self-funded.”
