A DRIVER and his passengers escaped injuries after a car flipped on its side near Marlborough.

Police were called to Ryles Lane in Lockeridge on Friday after the incident just before 1.48pm.

None of the three teenagers in the blue Fiat Punto were hurt, a police spokesman confirmed.

It is understood the car got stuck in some mud on the side of the road and as the driver tried to pull out it flipped and landed on the passenger's side.

The vehicle partially blocked the road but was recovered by 5pm.

It comes weeks as residents in Lockeridge launched a campaign to make the roads safer after the death of villager George Punton, 64.

Fyfield and West Overton Parish Council is also calling on Wiltshire Highways to reduce the speed limit from 30mph to 20mph and have submitted an application for Community Area Transport Group to carry out a survey to see if they have a case.
