AMBERSTASIA Gassmann said her sister had been 'acting like a child' on the day she stabbed Alison Connolly, a court heard.

On the final day of evidence at Bristol Crown Court, the 23-year-old denied her sister had shouted a catalogue of threats on her way to Evelyn House in May 12.

Amber said Charice had been 'silent', with tears rolling down her face, during the eight-minute journey from Hartland Close.

Witnesses have described Charice yelling threats, saying, 'call the police, there's going to be a murder'.

Alastair Malcolm QC, prosecuting, challenged Amber's motive when she said she just wanted to 'clean her sister up'.

"Danielle had come to tell you Alison Connolly was in Evelyn House with her daughter," said Mr Malcolm.

"Kylie had said her mother wanted to apologise to Charice.

"You are bigger than your sister. You could have restrained her. Do you remember saying, 'whoever started on my sister is going to get it'?

"You knew what had happened in the Premier Store because Charice had told you.

"That is why you went with her; to seek revenge on Alison Connolly.

"When she said she was going to kill people you didn't stop her because you were going along with it.

"Why did you not stop you sister attacking the door with a children's bicycle?

"You were telling her to wait until they came down.

"You knew Charice had the knife because she got it from your kitchen."

Mr Malcolm pointed discrepancies between her evidence and her police interview.

"My recollection was probably incorrect," Amber admitted. "I was in quite a state in my police interview."

Amber denied under questioning from Michael Vere-Hodge QC she had known Alison or Kylie prior to the incident.

She denied knowing Kylie had been living at Evelyn House.

In the witness box, she suffered repeated panic attacks with rapid breathing and shaking, her answers often inaudible.

"How do you feel now about the loss of life?" asked Mr Vere-Hodge.

"It's horrible," she replied.

The court had previously heard from witnesses who saw Amber punch Alison to the head after she had been stabbed, saying "that's what happens when you f*** with my family".

Amber said she had been trying to stop Alison and Kylie from reaching her sister, and that she did not believe the 49-year-old mum had been stabbed.

"They tried to go back to my sister and I tried to stop it," she said.

"She was moving around quite a bit trying to grab my arm, and I just got her off me."

The CCTV shows Amber moving towards Alison before making physical contact.

"You lunge towards her twice," said Mr Malcolm. "The truth is you knew your sister had a knife and that she was going to 'nank' somebody with it."

Amber said she had thought Alison was lying when she shouted she had been stabbed.

"When she said she had been stabbed I did say, 'no you haven't'," she admitted.

"She was pointing towards me but behind me.

"That's when I saw Charice with the knife. She was just stood there.

"A bit later I saw blood on her hand. When I came back to the door I think she [Alison] was sat on the steps.

"I don't know what I was thinking. Shock kicked in and disbelief."

Amber returned to her flat and had a spliff while Charice went to hospital.

"Within seconds the police were round and I only had a couple of drags," she said.

"Danielle had come through the door crying and crying.

"She said Charice had stabbed the woman, the ambulance had arrived, and the police were there as well.

"The paramedics were saying it wasn't looking good."

Charice, 19, and Amberstasia, 23, both deny murder, while the former accepts manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.

The trial continues.
