‘QUICK jab to her side; I walked off like nothing had happened’, Charice Gassmann told her solicitor of the moment she stabbed Alison Connolly through the heart last May.

In a rare move, privileged notes made by solicitor Emma Hillier while speaking to Gassmann in custody were revealed to the jury at Bristol Crown Court, through disclosures from psychiatric assessments.

The 19-year-old had described walking away from Alison, into a nearby flat at Evelyn House and washing blood off her herself, before jogging to an alleyway and stashing the knife in a bush.

“I went into Danielle’s, washed blood off, and threw toilet paper down the toilet and flushed it,” her notes read.

“There was no bleach. I walked out of the flat, jogged to an alley and put the knife in a bush.”

Charice said she could not remember any of the incident itself any more but agreed what she had told her solicitor was probably true.

Prosecutor Alastair Malcom read Gassmann’s words to the court.

“As far as the attack on Alison Connolly is concerned, you said, ‘the mum stepped forward, I took a step back and switched,” he said.

“My head switched to a different personality. I stepped forward, wasn't feeling anything, feeling out of my body.

“Quick jab to her side. I walked off like nothing had happened.”

Charice has previously given evidence she does not know where she got the knife used to stab Alison. She said voices had told her to go and ‘slice’ the 49-year-old mum after she head-butted her in a nearby shop.

“I had went to Amber’s address looking for my keys. I said I had to go to Danielle’s to get my weed, fags, jacket and keys,” her statement read. “I asked Amber to come with me because of the previous incident.

“I blacked out, and do not remember getting the knife from Amber’s but I know it must have come from Amber’s. I left Amber’s address and my head was spinning.

“Amber was arguing with Kylie in the grounds of Evelyn House. The door opened to Evelyn House and the mum was coming out shouting at Amber. I walked over. I can’t remember where I hid the knife on me.

“My mental health is telling me I have done nothing, but I know I have.”

Mr Malcom brandished a large machete with a curved blade measuring at least 10 inches, held in a scabbard, to the jury, which had been found at Charice’s home. She claimed she had bought it for a friend as a present.

“I suggest you were angry because of what she had done, and you were going to teach her a lesson,” said Mr Malcolm. “You went to get your sister to help you.

“You went to your sister’s to arm yourself. That is why you were shouting, asking for a machete.

“You were out for revenge because of what Alison Connolly had done to you. You were very angry, and you decided you were going to kill her. A number of people heard you say that is what you wanted to do. You took that knife because you wanted to take revenge.

“The truth of the matter is you were angry about what Alison Connolly did. You weren’t expecting it, and you went out and stabbed her in revenge.”

Charice and older sister Amberstasia, 23, both deny murder, while the former admits manslaughter.

The trial continues.
