THERE was huge success for members of the team from the Olympiad Karate Club on Sunday, when they competed at the Shikukai Wado Ryu Karate Championships.

The children were all smiles after the Japanese martial arts competition with many picking up medals and awards at the conclusion of the championship.

Instructor Carol Chatterton, a fifth Dan, and Earle Thomas, first Dan, congratulated all the competitors on the their spirit and high standard of performance.

Shikukai Karate-Do International is a UK based association founded by Sugasawa Sensei in 1990. He attended the fights at the weekend to present the trophies.

Olympiad Karate Club trains on Monday and Thursday evenings with child and adult classes.
