PUPILS at Pewsey Primary School have some new books to bury their heads into thanks to fundraising by the school’s PTA and the Marlborough & District Rotary Club.
They have swapped their worn-out books for some brand-new ones on planets, monsters and educations topics after Rotarian Peter Waine, who goes to the school twice a week to listen to the children reading, noticed many of the books needed replacing.
He also felt there needed to be more advance books stocked in the school’s library and on Monday, the youngsters welcomed Mr Waine and Rex Sandbach, who is president of the Marlborough & District Rotary Club, to show their new reading books that were bought with the help of £3,000 raised through the rotary club and PTA.
Headteacher Nicola Gilbert said: “We are delighted with the very kind donation, which along with the fundraising from the PTA, has enabled us to purchase some more much needed books for our children.
“The children are really delighted about reading the new books.”
