DEVIZES Foodbank has gone mobile thanks to help from a village garage.
Keys of a van were handed over to Foodbank co-ordinator Alan Beamish by Jim Hammond at The Old Forge Garage at Worton.
It will be used to move food from supermarkets, churches and other collection points to its store at Gaigers in Devizes and then to take emergency food boxes to those who distribute to those in need in the Devizes and Kennet area.
Foodbank chairman Peter Brearley said: "The van has come at an opportune time. October generally sees a large inflow of food as many churches collect food for the Foodbank as part of their harvest celebrations."
He thanked Mr Hammond for helping the charity to find a suitable van and the many people who continue to donate food so that people in need can get through times of crisis.
The white Citroen Berlingo van will soon be adorned with the Devizes Foodbank name and logo so people will be able to spot it as it is driven to drop-off points.
