THE average age of the reception class at a village primary school soared when a tea party was held to celebrate the family.

Relatives of all ages from brothers and sisters and parents to grandparents and great grandparents were invited to Dauntsey Academy Primary School, West Lavington, near Devizes, last week to enjoy tea and cakes with the reception class.

The gathering came at the end of a class topic on the family and was designed to celebrate the family in a fun and creative way.

The children sang songs and gave out homemade gift cards made in the school's outdoor Forest School classroom.

Homemade cakes and biscuits added to the party atmosphere.

Reception class teacher Sue Kerr said: "Everyone has a fabulous time and we look forward to the next family event.

"The Afternoon was a great success and a wonderful ending for our topic on family."
