THE Raj restaurant has reached the national final of the Tiffin Cup after being named the best Asian Restaurant in the South West.

It means the The Raj, on Station Hill in Chippenham, will compete as one of 13 finalists of the annual British competition to find the best South Asian restaurant at the House of Commons on October 27.

The restaurant progressed following a blind taste test by members of the Tiffin Club, who run the competition, beating off 121 other nominations to reach the final.

The Tiffin Cup winner is chosen from a list of restaurants that have been nominated by their MPs with Michelle Donelan MP nominating the restaurant for the competition after it won a public vote in the Chippenham constituency.

The Conservative MP said: “I am delighted that The Raj has made it into the final of the Tiffin Cup 2015.

"This is such a prestigious award and I will certainly be there on October 27 to cheer them on in the final. I am sure everyone in Chippenham will be rooting for our restaurant to be crowned the 2015 champion.”

The Grand Final will be judged by some of the UK's leading experts on Asian cuisine as well as celebrity chef Ainsley Harriet and Nina Wadia from BBC's Eastenders.
