DRY and sunny weather is on the way for Swindon and Wiltshire, according to forecasters.

Predictions from the Met Office say sunny spells will cancel out recent rainfall, with temperatures rising to around 17C today - and higher tomorrow.

"Today will be a fine and dry day with plenty of sunny spells," a Met Office forecaster said.

"It will feel warmer than of late with light winds and temperatures reaching the high teens."

This evening will feel chilly, due to a lack of cloud, he said.

"We will see largely clear skies once again giving a chilly feel, particularly in rural spots," he said, adding that temperatures would dip to around 5C.

Meanwhile tomorrow would see temperatures reach 19C, the forecaster added.

"It will continue to be mostly fine and warm throughout Friday, though it will turn cloudier in the west," he said.

"We may see the odd shower into the afternoon."

MEANWHILE, on the roads, a fallen tree partially blocked the A343 at Highclere overnight, although traffic is still moving.

No major delays are reported on the rail or bus networks.
