A FOUR-year-old boy who was found unconscious in a pond in Gastard was pronounced dead at the Royal United Hospital in Bath.
South West Ambulance Service was called at 11.40am yesterday to a property in Gastard and Wiltshire Air Ambulance attended.
Paramedics carried out CPR on the boy before taking him to the RUH by road ambulance.
A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “Wiltshire Police can confirm that we attended a property in Gastard, near Corsham, yesterday afternoon following a call from the ambulance service relating to a four-year-old boy who had been found unconscious, face down in a pond.
“The boy was taken to the Royal United Hospital in Bath where he could not be resuscitated.
"Formal identification has not yet been completed but the next of kin have been informed. Our thoughts are with the family at this very difficult time."
Police officers are investigating the incident but a spokesman said there did not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.

A post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course and a file will be prepared on behalf of the Wiltshire coroner.
