DRIVERS have been warned to take extra care today in heavy rainfall after several accidents.

South Western Ambulance Service was called to Rockley Lane, near Marlborough, at 7.15am after a car left the road, apparently rolling over before settling back on its wheels.

A 32-year-old man suffered neck and head injuries and was taken to Great Western Hospital for treatment.

The A338 was partially blocked in both directions between the Mill Drove junction in Collingbourne Kingston and the A346 junction in Burbage, because of a crash involving a single vehicle.

A SWAS spokesman said two people travelling in the car were treated at the scene by paramedics for minor injuries.

South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust tweeted: "Take it easy on the road this morning. Lots of heavy rain across the SW."

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for rain in the south west.

Its chief forecaster said today: "Areas of rain, often heavy, and strengthening winds will cross much of southern England today (Friday), persisting overnight in the east, before clearing on Saturday morning.

"More than 30mm is expected quite widely but with the likelihood now that some areas could well see more than 70mm of rain.

"The combination of factors brings the risk of disruption to outdoor activities and heavy holiday traffic."
