THE 6th Devizes Scout Group has received a cheque for more than £5,800 after being Sainsbury’s charity partner for the past two years.

The cheque for £5801.45 was handed over on June 13 with the money to be split between the beavers, cubs and scouts.

So far the money has been used to buy a new gazebo and tent along with a visit to the Yeovilton Air Museum where young scouters were able to gain their air activities and air researcher activity badges. The group have also brought games and activity equipment for use during the weekly meetings.

Scott Coleman, 6th Devizes Scout Group cub scout leader, said: “We couldn't believe our luck when we were chosen as charity of the year and then a year on we just thought we were dreaming when we were informed it rolled over for a second year.

“From the outset, staff were really enthusiastic with the beavers, cubs, scouts and leaders. We were always made to feel at home and each and every one went out of their way to help us and the customers have not only been amazingly kind with their donations, but also in their interaction and often patience with the our young scouters.”
