A CHIPPENHAM sports therapist has joined forces with an award-winning teenage vlogger to help take her business into the YouTube age.

Sports therapist Sam Cox, 37, who founded Chippenham business Active Potential Therapy, has recruited 15-year-old Lucy Powrie to help her develop a video channel online.

Lucy Powrie, a pupil at Abbeyfield School, loves nothing more than to read and devotes all her spare time to her blogs.

She has been video-blogging, or vlogging, about teenage fiction since April 2012 and has more than 3,000 subscribers to her YouTube channel Lucy The Reader, formerly The Bumbling Bibliophile.

She has been a guest speaker at the Oxford and Cheltenham Literary Festivals and in March this year won the title of Champion Vlogger at the 2015 UKYA Blogger Awards for her support of authors and publishers.

Lucy said it was really exciting for her to help Mrs Cox develop her channel of videos advising on sports injury, health and nutrition.

"It's a learning curve," she said. "I do hope to run my own business helping others create a credible and thriving online video stream.

"I started mine three years ago because I love reading and I wanted to share my love of books. I did it because it was fun and it’s given me opportunities I could not have imagined. Now I hope to help Sam do the same.”

Mrs Cox, whose business is based on Bumpers Farm, is a sports therapist for the Chippenham Harriers and the Chippenham Amateur Swimming Club and also works with elite athletes including members of the GB Skeleton team such as James Howard.

She said: “I want to provide videos which help and support people who exercise or those who want to keep mobile.

"Working with Lucy, who is an amazing young woman, was obvious when the opportunity came up. She is helping me create my own videos to help people with activities such as stretching right through to nutrition and healthy eating.”
