VINTAGE car owners were out in force on Sunday as the Karmann Ghia international rally passed through Devizes.

The Karmann Ghia is a classic sports car, based on the chassis of the Volkswagen Beetle, and organisers decided to have the owner’s club international rally take place in Wiltshire this year to celebration 60 years since the cars first production.

On Sunday 35 Ghia's cruised through the Wiltshire countryside, stopping for a two hour coffee break in Devizes at the Wadworth visitor centre.

Mark Reeves ,from Redstocks, who planned the event with partner Jane Shepley, said: “Although I have been part of the club for eight years this was the first rally I have organised. It went really well and all the feedback I've had has been positive.

"We had people attend from all over the UK along with people driving over from France and Switzerland.

"I would like to thank Wadworth, Brogans and Butler Fuels for helping make the rally a success."

As part of the two day rally the group also visited the steam museum in Swindon on Saturday before moving down to Stonehenge on Sunday.
