OVER £2,000 raised by students at St John’s School in Marlborough has been handed over to three Wiltshire charities this week.

On Monday Cora Gallagher from Wiltshire Mind, Mike Kennedy from Prospect Hospice, and Sharon Wooley from Wiltshire Young Carers visited St John’s and each received a cheque for £700.

The money was raised from a pantomime put on by the school’s sixth form students back in December with the cheques presented by the panto directors and acting principal Miles Whittaker.

The production of Alice in Wonderland the Panto was entirely directed and produced by the St John’s International Baccalaureate Diploma students and had a cast of both students and teachers.

Kate Hunter, St John’s development officer, said: “The charities were chosen by the International baccalaureate students, who were keen to support local causes.

“The three charity representatives talked to the students about how the donation would be used and the students were pleased to hear that the money they had raised was going to make a difference.”
