DEVIZES stall holder Chris Lugg donated his roast potato stall to the Rotary club at the town’s food festival this month to help raise money for victims in Nepal.

A familiar face in both Devizes and Chippenham Mr Lugg has olive stall, Olives ‘n’ Stuff, along with more recent creation Mr Roast Potato.

At the Devizes Food festival on May 16 he donated all proceeds from his Mr Roast Potato stall to Devizes Rotary Club.

The following day he was then at the Rowdeford School garden fair where he donated the profits of that event between both Rowdeford School and Springfield Academy in Calne.

He said: “It went really well; my father Colin is a member of Rotary and alongside myself and other Rotarian's we worked on the day to raise £300.

“I agreed to do it as people at both schools, Rotary and my farther have all helped me along last year with little acts of kindness and this is my way to say thank you.”

Mr Lugg started his Mr Roast Potato business because he was tired of seeing all the same food vendors such as burgers at markets and events.

He said: “My 3m x 3m stall offers the public a fresh new idea while still being a firm British classic.”

The potatoes are cooked in giant Paella Pans which allows people to watch the Potatoes crisp up in front of them.

Customers can then choose depending on the season from a selection of table sauces or gravy.

Each month Mr Lugg also finds different local produce products to create or cook as an a compliment.

Examples include Lackham College beef chilli con carne, stew and dumplings and Woolley Park corn fed piri piri chicken, all of which are served with the potatoes to enhance the takeaway experience.

Mr Lugg trades at Devizes market on Thursdays and Chippenham market on Saturdays.
