MUM-OF-TWO Jacki Sors hobbled through one pain barrier after another to complete a 100km charity walk from London to Brighton in 31 excruciating hours.

Dyson worker Mrs Sors, 43, from Malmesbury, was advised by the event’s medical team to call it a day as they patched-up her swollen, battered feet shortly after the halfway mark.

But she grit her teeth and staggered on to complete the 63-mile marathon and raise £1,300 to help equip a new library at St Joseph’s School in Malmesbury.

Customer services operative Mrs Sors, who even managed to limp into work on Tuesday morning, said: “I’ve never been in so much pain in all of my life. It was horrendous.

“People around me were dropping like flies. At 56km the medics burst 15 blisters on my feet.

“My feet were so swollen I couldn’t get my shoes back on. I was advised by the doctor to give up. But I didn’t want to. I was beside myself with pain but I just wanted to get on with it.”

Mrs Sors set off with thousands of other walkers from London at 10am on Saturday with the aim of completing the marathon in 24 hours.

“I was going really well for the first 25km, faster than I had anticipated,” she said.

But at 40km the blisters began to appear and at 56km she had to queue up with scores of others to receive medical attention in the early hours of Sunday.

Having ignored advice to quit, she then “power-limped” to Brighton on bandaged, bloated feet.

Mrs Sors finally crossed the line at 5pm on Sunday, much to the pride and delight of her cheering children Noah, eight, and Ben, six, and her relieved husband Thomas, an ultra-marathon runner who also works at Dyson.

The money will buy books and beanbags for a new school library “to help encourage the children there to enjoy the magic and adventure of books, just like I did when I was that age,” she said.
