SOUND man John 'Grubby' Callis is spending most of this week making sure all is right on stage for music legend Paul McCartney at some of the country's biggest venues before rushing back to a field in a Wiltshire village.

Mr Callis, who is one of the organisers of The Concert At The Kings in All Cannings on Saturday, said: "It's a bit mad at the moment.

"Everything is starting to come together here but then I have to go to Birmingham and Liverpool to be with McCartney and then get back here on Friday ready for Saturday.

"But I am sure it is all going to be fine. It is buzzing here now and I am looking forward to Saturday."

While he is away King's Arms landlord Richard Baulu will make sure everything is prepared for the likes of Squeeze, Lindisfarne, Howard Jones, The Sweet and the Animals.

Mr Baulu said: "We are really busy but I am confident it will all go smoothly. We have done this a few times now and so hopefully we know what we are doing.

"It looks as if the weather is going to be on our side again. Ticket sales are going well but people can still book. I think it is going to be a fantastic event."

Tickets are available from Wadworth Visitor Centre, the pub and Sound Knowledge in Marlborough but those now booked online have to be collected on the day.

One of the latest big names in music to support the charity concert is Tito Jackson who has a Rock Against Cancer T-shirt which he is showing to friends.

Mr Callis said: "We would like to thank Tito for displaying the shirt and supporting the cause."

This year's concert will be the fourth and so far has raised more than £70,000 for cancer charities and local good causes.

On Saturday doors open at noon and music finishes at 11pm. In addition to the acts on the main stage up and coming bands will appear on the evolution stage throughout the day. They include Drench from Reading, Idlewood from Brighton and Bad Sounds, who apparently like to keep their background a mystery. There will be a wide range of food and drink on offer.
