YOUNGSTERS in Devizes will have the chance to try a range of sporting and creative activities this summer at the most varied Camp Xtra ever to be staged.

Bookings are now being taken for the event at Devizes School which will run from August 10 to 14.

Co-ordinator Mike Rose said: "This is the most exciting and varied Camp Xtra ever. There will be fun activities and sports to suit all interests and abilities. Children will come away having learnt new things and made new friends.

"There will be more than 19 activities on offer, with new courses including creative felting, orienteering, rugby summer school, X Fit and musical theatre.

"Youngsters could create an animated film in the morning and then get on the water in the afternoon during kayaking."

School deputy head Sue Marshall said she was sure that Mr Rose, who is in charge for the first time this year, will bring fresh ideas to the project.

She said: "I was delighted to appoint Mike Rose as the new Camp Xtra co-ordinator and the new custodian of this amazing, innovative and simply wonderful week of activities for young people."

The courses are aimed at children aged from eight to 15 and include a range of activities each morning and afternoon throughout the week so youngsters can choose to do either half days or full days.

Activities vary in price from £35 to £50 for five half days and £70 to £100 for full days.
