CHIPPENHAM Young Farmers beat seven other clubs from across the county at the Wiltshire Federation of Young Farmers' annual rally.

Youngsters took part in a range of competitions from judging stock, cooking and quilling birthday cards to flower arranging, paper boat making and turning a wheelbarrow into a pram.

Cups were awarded for each challenge and the club with the most silverware collected the winning shield.

It was the first time Chippenham had won the prize since 2004. Malmesbury came second, and Purton and Cricklade third.

Club leader Sue Maidment said: "A lot of hard work was put into all the different competitions and getting members sorted by both Chippenham chairman Sam Maidment and the junior leader Ian Gooding so thanks must go to them for all of their hard work."
