BENGAL Bite in Devizes has come out top after winning the Gazette & Herald’s Wiltshire’s Best award for best restaurant.

The Indian restaurant in Sheep Street, which offers contemporary Indian and Bangladeshi food, beat off stiff competition from Nurdens Garden Centre Cafe in Malmesbury to win the award.

The other nominations received for Best Restaurant were for Revolutions in Chippenham and The Westbrook Inn, Bromham.

Restaurant owner Imam Hussain said: “I’m really pleased and thrilled that we have been voted the best restaurant in Wiltshire.

“I think people have voted for us as we have high standards in the restaurant along with acting on feedback we get from customers.”

Along with winning the Wiltshire’s Best accolade the restaurant was also finalist for Small Business of the Year in the Wiltshire Business awards.

Wiltshire’s Best has been running since January with a different category to vote for each month.

Sherston Post Office Stores bagged the prize for best newsagent in January and Nurdens Garden Centre in Malmesbury won best garden centre in February.

This month readers have been voting for Wiltshire’s Best convenience store, with the winner to be announced in May.
