STAFF at Rudloe Pre-School have been praised for the high quality teaching and care they give to youngsters by Ofsted inspectors.

The nursery, based at Corsham Primary School's Broadwood site, cares for 21 children aged 2-8 and has been rated ‘good’ after an inspector from the government watchdog visited last month.

The report says children are well behaved and confident because staff “provide clear guidance about what is acceptable behaviour and consistently praise and acknowledge children's achievements.”

It says children are given “rich” learning opportunities and make good progress ready to go on to school and management and staff have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of their duty to protect children.

It adds: “Management and staff have an effective key person system in place. All staff know their key children extremely well and help them feel fully included and valued. Therefore, children settle quickly, gain their confidence, and show a strong sense of well-being and belonging."

Manager of the pre-school Ally Selby who has worked there for 11 years is thrilled with the report, especially as she took over as manager in September, she said: “We are so chuffed and really happy, all of us have worked really hard to maintain the place.”

To achieve Ofsted’s top rating of ‘outstanding’ the pre-school needs to use play routines to encourage children to recognise and write their own names and build upon maths, reading and writing skills.
