Supporters of Cricklade Leisure Centre are to link hands around the stricken building today to protest against its imminent closure.

School children from the area will join with teachers and MP James Gray to show solidarity and demand that North Wiltshire District Council reconsiders its decision to stop funding the centre after March 31.

The protest is to take place at 1pm and a press conference will follow the demonstration.

Gary Walker, one of the lead campaigners to save the centre from closure said: "We said we would not give up and we will not stop fighting.

"There will be a great deal of support at the rally today demonstrating that the community wants to keep Cricklade open."

Oh wonderful, James Gray MP is involved. Only now are we assured of victory. I wonder if he can donate his expenses to save the centre. Or maybe the gentleman and his mistress can patronise it. Seriously James where did all your expenses go?

Hopefully this human force-field will save the centre from certain closure. It never failed the USS Enterprise...
