The teenage mother who dumped her newborn baby in a wheelie bin in North Bradley last week was arrested yesterday on suspicion of child neglect.
Detectives interviewed the 19-year-old woman at Melksham Police Station, although she was not charged.
She was released on police bail pending further inquiries.
Police found the baby in the wheelie bin after a search of the mother's property on February 11.
At first it was thought the infant was dead and she was pronounced dead on arrival to hospital but a police spokesman confirmed yesterday that the baby is now "doing well".
The baby's mother is thought to have panicked after the child was born and wrapped her in a blanket and placed her in the bin, believing she was dead.
