LANGLEY Fitzurse School in Kington Langley was rated Good in its latest Ofsted inspection.

The report published last month shows an improvement since its last inspection, two years ago, which said the school required improvement.

The latest report reads: “Since the previous inspection, strong leadership has ensured that teaching has improved and standards have risen steadily.”

And the category of behaviour and safety at the primary school was awarded Outstanding.

The report notes: “Pupils are very eager to learn, and put a great deal of effort into the work they are asked to do. They are very courteous and kind to one another, willing to help anyone who needs it.”

It said teachers and leaders were able to set work at the correct level of difficulty because they knew the pupils well. All groups of pupils made good progress, though not as rapidly in writing as in reading and mathematics. Attendance was above average and pupils felt very well cared for because adults took the time to listen to them.

Headteacher Becky Harris said: “The rest of the staff and I are delighted with this outcome.”

The inspector suggested the school could improve by making sure teachers’ comments in pupils’ books tell them more precisely what they need to do to move on in their learning, and give them time to act on these.
