Wiltshire Police have thanked members of the public for their assistance following reports of a man acting suspiciously in the Chippenham area.

During February, three separate incidents of children being followed or watched by a man driving a black Range Rover in the Ladyfield and Derriads Lane area of the town were reported to police.

A police investigation established that the man is not a risk to children and was in the area for legitimate reasons.

PCSO Elizabeth Duncan, of the Chippenham Rural Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "This man has been spoken to by officers after his number plate was recorded by members of the public.

"He is of no risk to children, and there is nothing further for police to investigate on this matter. We would like to thank the public for their assistance in this matter."
