DEVELOPER Flower & Hayes Ltd has lost its battle to turn two offices in Dauntsey, near Chippenham, into eight flats.

The company launched an appeal following the decision by Wiltshire Council not to allow the development at Middle Farm Close, Dauntsey.

Planning Inspector Joanne Jones looked at whether there was an ongoing economic need to retain the two office units and the effect of the development on surface water drainage and public open space.

The inspector’s report concluded there was not enough evidence the offices had been actively marketed to warrant a change of use and that the proposal would be contract to policy regarding satisfactory arrangements for efficient water supply.
