BY Brook Valley CE School in Yatton Keynell has been judged outstanding in every area by Ofsted.

The inspection on November 20 and 21 was the primary school’s first since becoming an academy in May 2012.

It improves on its good rating from five years before.

The latest report said pupils’ behaviour was exemplary. It said they made strong progress and reached above average standards in reading, writing and mathematics.

Pupils who showed signs of falling behind were “quickly spotted” and pupils with specific needs were “exceptionally well supported”.

To improve further, the inspector suggested making sure pupils practise and apply, in a timely way, advice given to them by teachers when they mark their work.

Headteacher Bev Ball said: “The report reflects the hard work and dedication of the team at By Brook Valley. It is lovely to have the high quality of our teaching and our curriculum recognised.

“We are especially proud of the comments the inspectors have made about our pupils, their behaviour and their attitudes to learning.”

In Easter 2013 By Brook Valley opened a two-class extension to meet the growing demand for school places.

Chairman of governors Ian Banister said: “The governors are delighted with the report. As a school we always want to provide the best education for our children and support the staff in the work they do every day in school.

“It’s a great result and something that everyone can feel especially proud of.”
