WILTSHIRE residents can now get free text and email alerts if air pollution rises, thanks to a new website.
The Wiltshire Council site gives residents information about air quality in their area.
Bradford on Avon, Calne, Salisbury and Devizes have analysers to measure nitrogen dioxide and small particles.
People who suffer from pollution-related illness such as asthma can benefit from the service as an early warning.
Shay Parsons, of Climate Friendly Bradford on Avon, a community group which aims to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the area, said: “The website is a great resource for Bradford on Avon as it raises awareness of the air quality issues the town faces.
"Traffic congestion is a key contributor to poor air quality in Bradford, as well as to carbon emissions.
“Because 84 per cent of the town’s traffic is generated locally the solutions are largely in our own hands.”
The website address is wiltshireairquality.org.uk
