VILLAGERS in Bratton took part in the second annual Apple Day on the village green and were able to produce delicious fresh apple juice.

More than 100 apples were brought from people’s gardens.

The equipment was provided by Bratton Parish Council, which has been was granted £500 from the Westbury Area Board to buy a juicer and squasher.

The juicing was done by the villagers with the help of other members of the parish council and by the end of the day several litres of apple juice had been produced.

Event organiser Cllr Amanda Callard said: “Everyone who did come had a great time and we made some really good juice that was very thick.”

Cllr Callard said it had not been a very good year for apples, which had hindered their results a bit.

She explained: “The apple crop this year has been pretty bad and resulted in the apples not being particularly juicy or large in number.

“Hopefully next year things will be better.”
