A DRIVER who died when his car appeared to swerve off the road and into a tree near Malmesbury has been named as 49-year-old Stuart William Harris, of Portland in Dorset.
Mr Harris’ white Volkswagen Passat was seen by an on-looker to leave the road strike a tree on Friday, November 14, just after 3pm.
PC Lee Prince said: “A white Volkswagen Passat was seen being driven along Ashton Road towards Minety.
“A short while later the same witness saw the car had struck a tree. Unfortunately the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.”
Police said that while they were still investigating the crash it did not appear that any other vehicle was involved.
Any witnesses to the collision are being urged to make contact with the officer involved in the case PC Barum or by calling 101 and quoting the log number 212 November 14.
