Youngsters in Corsham are being invited to get a taste of what facilities the new Springfield Community Campus has to offer.
The informal taster event will take place from 6pm-8pm next Wednesday, which will include activities such as free climbing wall sessions and demonstrations in the training kitchen.
Young people are invited to meet youth activity organisers to help build and shape a new Local Youth Network (LYN).
This is being hosted by the area board on Tuesday, November 4, from 7pm-9pm.
Alan MacRae, chairman of the Corsham Area Board, said: “We are keen to make the most of the fantastic facilities at the campus and support local young people under this new community-led model.
“The new LYN forms a key element of this, and we want to engage with as many people as possible to ensure it has the best representation of local young people.”
After a Corsham Area Board meeting last month, local members approved and adopted a new model for the delivery of positive youth activities across the Corsham area.
The area board has a budget to support this and local youth activities, and the LYN will come up with recommendations for how the funding should be allocated.
Corsham’s newly-appointed community youth officer, Xina Hart, will work with the LYN and local providers to support this new model.
