Inventive ways to raise money for the Prospect Hospice Savernake Appeal are being thought of and community fundraiser Sara Thompson is ready to lend a helping hand.

Mrs Thompson has been assigned to the appeal for its duration and will be travelling around the Marlborough and Pewsey area, visiting community groups and organisations to spread the word about the campaign.

She said: “I’m making sure people know about the appeal and how people will benefit from Prospect’s services at Savernake Hospital.

“It’s still in its very early stages, but I’ve been talking to groups and I’ll be giving presentations about Prospect and reaching out to people, to encourage them to do some fundraising for us.”

Prospect Hospice is keen to get as many people as possible involved, so it can reach its £75,000 target by March 31 next year.

Mrs Thompson said: “It can be anything from a cake sale to a quiz night; we’re happy with whatever people chose to do to support the appeal.

“With Christmas coming up, it’s a great time for fundraising; perhaps there are choirs putting on concerts that could use the opportunity to do some fundraising for us with a collection.”

She said she hoped reports in the Gazette would prompt event organisers looking for a cause to support to think of Prospect.

Since the appeal was launched last Thursday, the hospice has had lots of positive comments and enthusiasm from the community.

Mrs Thompson said: “There has been a lot of interest and very positive responses from people who are really pleased that we are going to have a facility at the hospital.

“What has also come out is a lot of love and affection for both the hospital and Prospect Hospice.”
