A corner of Chippenham is being turned into a wildlife haven.
Green-fingered residents of the Ivy estate have been planting bulbs in raised beds and making bird boxes in Field View.
Many bird and insect species have made the community garden their home and bats, hedgehogs and deer are frequent visitors.
It was set up as part of the Wiltshire Wildlife’s Food Champions project in association with GreenSquare Housing.
Project officer Simon Lathbury said: “The residents have worked hard to landscape what was an uninteresting piece of grass in just a few months.
“The garden provides a space where residents can meet, make new friends, learn new skills and be involved in healthy activities. It is a space to unwind and brings wildlife into the heart of the town. All are welcome to be involved.”
There is a big tidy planned for Tuesday, October 28, from 11am to midday.
The Food Champions project works with housing associations, the Army, the Police and Crime Commission and others, building and developing community gardens, teaching horticultural and cooking skills using the produce grown in the gardens.
