Work is to restart on a village development in Sherston at the centre of a ‘high homes’ row.

Villagers initially gave their blessing to plans for eight houses, including six social homes at Easton Square.

But neighbouring residents were stunned after surveying work revealed that six of the new properties would be on ground raised three or four feet above their own homes.

Work stopped when they alerted Wiltshire Council and over the past four weeks talks involving residents, developers GreenSquare and council planners have been held.

Now GreenSquare has announced that all parties had “found a way forward”. They hope to complete the development by March next year.

Residents say the revised scheme has reduced ground levels for the new homes.
