A driver suffered serious head injuries in an accident at Collingbourne Ducis.

The woman was driving a red Toyota Yaris just before 5.45am on Thursday when the accident happened near Shears Inn, on Cadley Road, at the crossroads north of Mount Orleans Farm.

The driver suffered a serious cut to the head and a male passenger injured his arm.

Both were taken to Great Western Hospital in Swindon for treatment.

Police closed the road, the car being removed by 9am when the road was reopened.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance tweeted: "Early start for day crew assisted @swasFT @wiltshirepolice. Patient given advanced analgesia and taken by road to ED (emergency department)."
