A student who had open heart surgery last year has set herself the challenge of climbing Kilimanjaro for charity.

Rebecca Taylor, 21, from Melksham, will begin the climb on September 4 before returning in September 19.

Ms Taylor, who studies international hospitality at Bournemouth University, has raised £3,240 so far for charity Hope for Children.

She said: “I’m a bit nervous and excited. Before my surgery I wouldn’t have been able to do it and after my surgery my GP said I could live a normal life. So I chose to climb a mountain.”
