Hundreds flocked to Great Chalfield Manor near Melksham on Saturday for its inaugural Food Fest, organised with The Fox pub in Broughton Gifford.

People sampled and bought products from 20 specialist foodstalls, enjoyed live music and the gardens of the National Trust-owned manor.

The Old Cheese Room, The Old Spot Sausage Company, The Thoughtful Bread Company, Meg’s Cottage Fudge, Church Farm Meats, Butcombe Beers and Ruby Red Wine Cellars were exhibited and sold.

Alex Geneen, owner of The Fox, also supplied lunch, while other stall holders included Pistachio Provenance and Sam’s Kitchen.

Robert Floyd, who lives at Great Chalfield with his wife and Food Fest organiser Patsy, said: “We had a great day and we probably had about 700 visitors.

"Most of the stallholders sold out by 2.30pm. It was a great success and we are planning on doing it again next year."

Money raised by the Food Fest goes to All Saints’ Church, Great Chalfield, and the Friends of Great Chalfield.
