Young designer Grace Ahmed impressed judges with her ‘treemendous’ design in a National Graphic Design competition.
The 19-year-old St John’s pupil beat 3,079 other students in the PrintIt competition and won the best design process category announced at an Oscar’s style ceremony in London.
Entrants were asked to design a print-based item to promote Fairtrade products and Grace, of Rabley Wood View, came up with a shelving unit in the shape of a tree.
St John’s opened the competition up to all of its A-Level graphic design students and pupil Joey Smith was also shortlisted for an award.
She said: “When I designed it I imagined it being in Waitrose in Marlborough by the big clock on the back wall with all the Fairtrade products hanging off it.
“I went to the awards I was just happy to be nominated, so when they announced my name I was shocked, surprised and felt quite lucky.”
