Aparty of around 40 people from Royal Wootton Bassett enjoyed a memorable long weekend as guests of families in Blain.

A well-organised programme included leisure time with hosts, delicious meals, a civic reception and exchange of gifts, visits to attractions and entertainment.

Royal Wootton Bassett mayor Sue Hughes, who is vice-chairman of the twinning association, presented a large Royal Wootton Bassett flag that bears the new crest to the mayor of Blain on behalf of the town.

A day at a country show, Fetes des Battages, at La Chevallerais, was of great interest. The festival, which celebrated harvest, also featured a wide range of stalls and dancing displays.

On a visit to an attractive village, Paimport, the group saw the enchanted wood of Broceliande, and an artist's depiction of a golden tree, representing a fire that occurred some years ago.

After days of fun, friendship and food, a farewell breakfast was enjoyed at the hall opposite rue Wootton Bassett. A display of Irish dancing by Niamh and Jamie Bray, young association members, set the seal on a highly successful visit.
