A new club for young people – Devizes Leo Club – has been founded by Devizes Lions.

The club has been formed by the enthusiastic founding members, help from its sponsor club and the active support of Devizes School staff.

Leos have the chance to gain life skills while serving their communities, making new friends and having fun.

With the exception of one from Lavington School, the first members are from Devizes School, though membership is open to others.

Meanwhile the Lions committees are preparing for another busy year of raising funds and helping people.

Events include the sponsored walk on Sunday, October 12, when local people and groups may raise funds for their own causes (call 725503), a charity clay shoot at Urchfont on Sunday 16 November (730440) and the Christmas Fair in the Corn Exchange on December 6 (721942).

There are other entries in the diary coming up too.

Lion Geoff Taylor has now handed on the president’s gavel to Lion David Bousfield for the year to next July.
