Marlborough will mark Britain’s entry into the First World War with a wreath laying ceremony at the memorial in New Road on Monday.

The short ceremony will involve the Marlborough branch of the Royal British Legion, town Councillors and members of the 4MI.

On Sunday Marlborough Churches Together is holding an ecumenical and reflective service at 6pm in Christchurch.

The following day the churches in Marlborough, Preshute and Mildenhall will be open all day for prayer and reflection.

There will also be two reflective services at 8am at St George’s and 8.30pm St Mary’s. St John’s Church in Pewsey will be open from 6pm to 8pm.

There will be the opportunity to light a candle at the war memorial, and periods of prayer and reflection to remember those from Pewsey and beyond who gave their lives in the First World War.
