Youngsters at Southbroom Infants’ School were delighted to take part in the Isle of the Wight Carnival.

Along with Southbroom St James Academy in Devizes, the infants school was the only mainland carnival group to be invited to the island’s celebration with more than 750 people taking part in the parade in Ryde.

Southbroom Infants’ School pupils wore costumes that formed part of Southbroom’s winning entry at last year’s Devizes Carnival.

The school was supported in raising money to attend the event by the Friends of the school and also had a contribution from the Sam Waters Memorial Fund.

A school spokesman said much fun was had by all and the school was very much looking forward to taking part in the town carnival in August.
