MUSIC will beckon through the streets of Marlborough this weekend during the International Jazz Festival.

Opening the three-day festival tomorrow will be MEP for the South West Ashley Fox in the presence of Marlborough mayor Marian Hannaford-Dobson.

Performing at the opening ceremony will be The Original Rabbit Foot Spasm Band, The Jazzports, the band from St John’s School and Slaughterhouse Quartet.

This year the annual festival boasts an amazing line-up of new and returning entertainers, including Britain’s top jazz singer Clare Teal and last year’s festival opener Georgie Fame.

Other performers include; London's premier jazz harmony singing groups. Take Twenty, Big Man Clayton, Chris Jagger and the Red Stripe Band.

Marlborough Police are expecting the weekend to go off without a hitch.

Acting Sergeant David Tippetts said: “We will be paying it attention but we won’t be doing anything extra than we normally do.

“There is private security on at all the venues so I don’t foresee any issues.”
