Devizes Opportunity Centre is to get at least £500 from the Lloyds Bank Community Fund but could receive as much as £3,000 if enough people vote for the nursery.

Centre manager Betty Newman has received a letter saying it is on a shortlist of four for the regional awards.

First prize is £3,000, with £2,000 for second, £1,000 for third and £500 for fourth.

Supporters of the centre will have the chance to vote during September and the centre will be issued with special kit including posters and other marketing material to boost its chances of winning.

Mrs Newman said: “It is fantastic we are on the shortlist - £500 would be great but, of course, £3,000 would be even better.

“We will be letting people know what they have to do to vote as soon as we are told the details.”

Money for our Give Us A Chance appeal will be raised on Friday and Saturday when the Vale of White Horse Scooter Rally is held at The Coopers Arms in Pewsey.

The weekend, which includes music, a scooter ride and camping is organised by the Swindon Incrowd Scooter Group.
