Students took part in an eight-mile sponsored walk through Savernake Forest to raise funds for St John’s School’s all-weather pitch.
The walk involved 1,000 pupils from years 7 to 10 and 140 members of staff, who all finished the challenge within three hours.
They walked in their tutor groups, setting off at two-minute intervals, with the first group leaving the school shortly before 9am.
The walk organiser, assistant vice-principal Tom Nicholls, said: “It was fantastic. It was the first time we have done this, but it’s certainly something we’ll do again in the future.”
