The village of Sherston is gearing up for its annual boules weekend of festivities.

A peal of bells from the Church of the Holy Cross will ring out at 9am on Saturday to signal the start of the action.

More than 120 boules teams from far and wide will compete for the coveted cup on boules pistes set up along the High Street. At 10am the colts and juniors tournament will begin.

There will be a Brazilian themed Kids Zone, stalls and a variety of food served all day, along with a bar.

Prize giving is scheduled for 6pm, or when play has finished, followed by The Awkward Squad’s boules night party in the village hall and field from 7pm until late.

On Sunday it’s the turn of the tug of war contest starting at 11am where the prize is the Sherston Cup.

The legendary duck race begins at 2.30pm from the start line at Strechline, Brook Hill down to the finish line at Mill Cottage where there will be cream teas.

The weekend wraps up with a thanksgiving service with the Dodington Brass Band at 6pm on the village hall field.
