Sinéad O’Connor is the latest big name to be unveiled for this year's WOMAD festival at Charlton Park, near Malmesbury.
The announcement follows the shock and sadness of the death of legendary soul singer Bobby Womack last month. He had been booked to top the bill on the fourth and final night of the internationally-renowned festival on Sunday, July 27.
Organisers say O’Connor will headline the Open Air Stage on Sunday night.
It is billed to be a special performance, for along with performing some of her most acclaimed hits, O’Connor will debut some tracks from her new album, I'm Not Bossy, I'm The Boss which is due out on August 11 on Nettwerk Records.
O’Connor debut album The Lion and the Cobra was released in 1987 and by the end of the decade she was Grammy-nominated.
The following year, after the release of her re-interpretation of Nothing Compares 2 U she quickly became one of the biggest female music stars and remains the most iconic Irish artist of the past 30 years.
Also joining this year’s line-up is 27-year-old Samantha Crain, an Oklahoman of Choctaw heritage who writes tuneful country-folk. She will appear on the Ecotricity Stage on Sunday evening replacing Soema Montenegro, who now cannot attend.
