Day of action: Malmesbury School will be affected

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald: Malmesbury School headteacher Tim Gilson Malmesbury School headteacher Tim Gilson

Malmesbury School expects to be affected by strike action tomorrow and has warned students to bring in work in case their lessons are disrupted.

Headteacher Tim Gilson said: “At Malmesbury, we have 40 teachers who are members of the NUT union supporting the action. This means that we cannot operate a normal school day without making some alternative arrangements.

“As I do not know which members of staff will be taking industrial action until the day itself, we cannot be entirely sure which classes will be affected.

"The school will remain open and students should bring with them other work to be getting on with in the event that lessons are affected.

“We would hope that the vast majority, if not all lessons, will run as normal but students will need additional work to get on with under the supervision of a member of the senior leadership team when lessons are hit by the strike action.

"Students in Sixth Form will be required to work in the study facilities as they would normally during a free period should any of their lessons be affected by the industrial action.

“For students in school we will operate a reduced catering facility working out of the canteen. I appreciate that this is disruptive, for which I apologise.”

Buses will continue to operate as normal.

Don't know why the teachers call it a "day of action" when all they will be doing is lounging in bed while the rest of us set off for work. Teachers (or London transport workers) seem to be regularly on strike, so it's hardly news, I'd have thought.

The delightful Tory troll Harry Collier is off again. Here's news Harry, you belong to the mythical Daily Mail England. If you want to have public services you have to pay public servants enough for them to live in the area that they work in.
